CHALLENGE

The challenge with landscaping safety lies in the potential risks and hazards that are inherent in the industry. Landscapers often work with powerful machinery, sharp tools, and chemicals that can pose serious dangers if not handled correctly. Additionally, outdoor environments can bring unexpected variables like uneven terrain, inclement weather, and hidden obstacles. Without proper safety awareness and protocols, these factors can lead to accidents, injuries, and even long-term health issues for workers.

SOLUTION

Using Storyline, I created an interactive learning experience which takes the learner through recognizing the importance of landscaping safety best practices,  getting ready to work, and finding landscaping safety issues in a scene similar to one they have experienced in real life.  As a result, the learner will be better equipped at recognizing safety issues while landscaping and keeping themselves safe while working at their landscaping job.

RESULTS

Creating a learning course with gamification, real world scenes, and application helps to add engagement and relevancy to support the objectives of the course rather than simply presenting information for the user to read. By the end of the course, I believe the learner will be able to successfully recognize landscaping safety issues that may arise. This will ultimately lead to less injuries and better safe practices while landscaping.
